About Switchboard
Switchboard is an offline-first, local-only converter toolbox for the browser. It brings the useful little tools most people keep hunting for across dozens of websites into one fast, private place.
Convert a file, tidy a block of JSON, resize an image, create a QR code, check a regex, turn Markdown into a PDF, generate a password, or decode a timestamp. Then get on with your day.
No upload queue. No account. No asking for permission to use a basic utility.
Built for the work between bigger tasks
The best tools tend to disappear into your workflow. They solve a small problem quickly, then get out of the way.
Switchboard was built for exactly that kind of work: the PDF you need to pull text from, the messy CSV that needs converting, the image that needs resizing before you send it, the config file that needs a second format, or the piece of code you need to check before a meeting.
Instead of sending those jobs through a rotating cast of one-off websites, Switchboard gives you 40+ browser tools in a single keyboard-driven workspace. Use the command palette with ⌘K or Ctrl K, jump straight to a tool, do what you need to do, and move on.
Private by architecture
A converter should not need custody of your files.
Your files stay on your device because the conversion happens in your browser.
Switchboard is a Progressive Web App built to work locally. It does not ask you to upload files to a Switchboard server, create an account, or hand over an email address. There are no ads, no telemetry, and no tracking baked into the product.
Once you have visited it, you can install it and use the toolbox offline. That is handy on a plane, in patchy reception, or anytime you would rather not send a sensitive file somewhere just to change its format.
A few optional conveniences, such as pinned tools and recent inputs, are saved in your own browser so the app can feel familiar next time. They remain under your control and can be cleared from your browser at any point.

Switchboard covers the everyday work of developers, designers, writers, analysts, students, and anyone dealing with digital files or text.

The results are intentionally straightforward. Switchboard helps you do the work, but important output should always be checked before you rely on it in production, publish it, or share it.
Open source, built in public
Switchboard is open source under the MIT Licence. You can inspect the code, raise an issue, suggest a converter, improve the documentation, or contribute your own ideas through GitHub.
It is part of VextoApps, an independent collection of free, privacy-first web apps. The shared idea is simple: useful software should respect the person using it. A tool can be polished, capable, and genuinely helpful without making data collection the cost of entry.
