Terms and Conditions
Effective date: 31 August 2026
Welcome to Switchboard. These Terms and Conditions set out the rules for using our offline-first, browser-based converter toolbox. They are written in plain English because a useful tool should not come with unnecessary complexity.
By accessing or using Switchboard, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1. The Service
Switchboard provides browser-based utilities for converting and working with documents, images, data formats, developer tools, and text. The conversion logic is designed to run locally in your browser. The Service is free to use and does not require an account.
You may use Switchboard for personal, educational, and commercial purposes, provided that your use complies with these Terms and all applicable laws.
2. Your files, text, and output
Your files, text, and other converter inputs remain yours. We do not claim ownership over them simply because you use Switchboard.
You are responsible for the content you process and for confirming that you have the right to use it. Do not use Switchboard to process, publish, or distribute material that infringes another person's privacy, intellectual-property rights, confidentiality obligations, or other legal rights.
Switchboard is a practical tool, not a substitute for professional review. You must check important output before relying on it. File conversions, OCR, parsing, encoding, formatting, hash generation, and other processes can produce unexpected or inaccurate results depending on the source material, format, device, browser, and software version.
3. Use the tool responsibly
Please use Switchboard in a way that is lawful and considerate of others. You must not use the Service to:
- violate any law, regulation, contract, or third-party right;
- create, distribute, or facilitate unlawful, fraudulent, deceptive, harassing, hateful, defamatory, or harmful content;
- interfere with, disrupt, damage, overload, or compromise the Service, its hosting infrastructure, or another person's access to it;
- attempt unauthorised access to systems, data, or networks;
- use the Service to evade security controls, platform moderation, or lawful restrictions; or
- scrape, automate, or reproduce the Service at a scale that harms its availability or operation.
We may restrict or stop access where we reasonably believe use of the Service creates harm, risk, or a breach of these Terms.
4. Local data and share links
Switchboard may save tool preferences, recent activity, and last inputs locally in your browser. That data can disappear if you clear browser data, use private browsing, change devices, remove the installed app, reset your browser, or encounter a device issue. We cannot restore local data because it is not stored on our servers.
If a tool creates a shareable URL containing encoded state, you are responsible for checking it before sharing. Do not include confidential, private, sensitive, or identifying content in a link that may be seen by others.
5. Availability and changes
Switchboard is provided free of charge on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We aim to keep the Service useful, quick, and private, but we do not promise that it will always be available, uninterrupted, error-free, secure, compatible with every device, or suitable for every purpose.
We may update, add, remove, pause, or discontinue any tool, feature, route, or part of the Service at any time. We are not required to maintain a particular converter, output format, version, or browser-storage structure indefinitely.
6. No warranties
To the maximum extent permitted by law, VextoApps disclaims all warranties, whether express, implied, statutory, or otherwise. This includes warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, availability, non-infringement, compatibility, and accuracy.
Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts, or modifies any rights or remedies that cannot lawfully be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law or other applicable consumer-protection laws.
7. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, VextoApps will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive loss or damage arising from or connected with your use of, or inability to use, the Service.
This includes loss of files, local browser data, snippets, settings, business opportunities, profits, goodwill, reputation, or data; errors in generated output; formatting differences across third-party software; and loss caused by a third-party service, device, browser, network, or platform.
Where liability cannot lawfully be excluded, it is limited to the minimum extent permitted by law.
8. Intellectual property and open source
The Switchboard name, logo, website design, copy, and other original materials in the Service are owned by or licensed to VextoApps and are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. You may not use these materials in a way that suggests endorsement by VextoApps without prior written permission.
The Switchboard codebase is available under the MIT Licence. Your rights to use, copy, modify, and distribute code covered by that licence are governed by its terms. These Terms do not take away any rights the MIT Licence gives you.
9. Third-party names, sites, and services
Switchboard may refer to third-party platforms, file formats, libraries, or services to describe compatible tools. Those names belong to their respective owners. A reference does not mean Switchboard is affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or approved by that third party.
The Service may link to external websites, including GitHub and Buy Me a Coffee. External sites operate under their own terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for their content, availability, or practices.
10. Voluntary support
You may choose to support the work behind Switchboard through Buy Me a Coffee. Support is completely voluntary. It does not create a subscription, guarantee future features or support, provide ownership rights, or form a separate agreement unless we explicitly say so at the time.
11. Changes to these Terms
We may revise these Terms when the Service changes or legal requirements develop. The current version will be published on this page with an updated effective date. By continuing to use Switchboard after revised Terms take effect, you agree to the updated version.
12. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia, and the applicable laws of Australia. You and VextoApps submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of New South Wales and courts entitled to hear appeals from them, except where applicable law requires otherwise.
13. Contact
Questions about these Terms can be sent to vextoapp@proton.me with the subject line Switchboard Terms.
